The location of Aral Sea is Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan. In the last 60 years, Aral has shrinked. The shrinking of Aral Sea is one of the planet's worst environmental disasters. In 1948 Aral was much bigger than it is now. The half size of it has “extinct”. The same disaster happened with our Sevan which is located in Armenia. Sevan is the largest lake in Armenia and the Caucasus region. It is one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world. In the 19th and in the 20th centuries people used Sevan as energy provider. And the level of the lake fell more than 19 meters. Then an ecological disaster was avoided when the Stalinist era ended in 1956. Then people understood the whole problem and they tried to help Sevan Lake. In 1981 the government tried to recover the water by digging a big tunnel from the river Arpa to Sevan. The level of Sevan rised. Then another tunnel was constructed. And finally, Sevan was recovered. So I think people have to construct a tunnel for Aral, too.
